Block Printing Workshop | Block Beauty | Pooja Gokul

The art of hand block printing is an ancient Indian textile tradition that dates as far back as 2000 BC. Unlike many other dying traditions, this beautiful technique has been preserved over the years. Hand block printing is often seen on textiles and paper to create beautiful designs and patterns.

Join me, Pooja Gokul, for a workshop on hand block printing. I will talk about the origins and process of hand block printing in India, including how the blocks are made and the social symbolism of different motifs. This will be followed by a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the technique of block printing on paper and cloth. Workshops are open to adults and children of 12+ years.

Bring your own cotton fabric, in white or a light pastel shade. It can be anything, from a T-shirt or kurti to napkins and pillow cases. All other materials will be provided.
